Given the far-reaching transformation of energy markets, the digital & artificial intelligence revolution in full swing, the blurring of frontiers between B2B and BC2 clients, as well as between producers and consumers, and the intense competition in Belgium, innovation and business development are at the core of Luminus’ mission to become the preferred energy solutions partner of our customers.

The Business Developer & Agile Community Builder will be part of the Strategy, Innovation and Business Development Department, which has overall responsibility for the development of an innovative and future-oriented strategy for Luminus, the management of Luminus’ innovation program and dedicated accelerator, and the industrialization of new customers’ solutions through organic or external growth.

To support the team in developing innovative customer solutions, we are currently looking for a Business Developer & Agile Community Builder, with a strong customer focus and entrepreneurial profile, good understanding of digital technologies (in particular IOT and Artificial Intelligence (AI)), and who will take the responsibility to develop and industrialize future customers’ solutions until preparation of the go-to-market.

Over the past couple of years, Luminus has acquired a number of services companies including ATS, Vanparijs Engineers, Newelec and Dauvister to internalise competences, operations and client bases. It has also set-up a dedicated accelerator to experiment with more disruptive business models. Hence, the development and scaling of these innovative solutions will be performed through transverse agile teams (“Business Development Squads”), gathering the relevant stakeholders from the different divisions, in particular Marketing, Sales, our subsidiaries and our Accelerator.

Thanks to this ecosystem, we want to accelerate go-to-market for new solutions that help our customers reduce their carbon footprint and accelerate Belgium’s energy transition.

Main Responibilities

Now that the imortance of this position is clear, let’s make it a little more tangible and tell you a little more about the job content. The Business Developer and Agile Community Builder has a wide and varied job description, but here are the main tasks he or she will be responsible for:

  • Identifying and prioritizing together with the Business Sponsors, the future customer solutions based on customer needs, company readiness, product performance and competitive dynamics;
  • Designing and executing market research projects to assess market potential;
  • Agreeing with the Business Sponsors the mission briefing of the Business Development Squad;
  • Building and leading the Business Development squad, gathering the relevant experts from the different divisions, including Marketing, Sales, our subsidiaries and our Accelerator, as well as the relevant support functions;
  • Building the future solutions in agile mode within the squad, working in sprints, pivoting as necessary, until preparation of the go-to-market and full hand-over to Operational entities. As part of this journey, use the Accelerator as necessary if customer’s traction still needs to be (re)validated or business model (re)confirmed;
  • Bringing into production the more disruptive ideas successfully exiting the Accelerator;
  • Connecting with the relevant stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem of Belgium and in EDF Group.

Now let’s see if you fit the profile that we’re lookin for:

  • You have a Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration or Engineering (or equal by experience)
  • You speak English fluently, as well as French and/or Dutch
  • You have 5+ years marketing/product management experience
  • You’re passionate about innovation and digital technologies, in particular IOT and AI
  • Expertise in the utility market and Retail and/or B2B business, expertise in energy business is a strong advantage
  • Your entrepreneurial mindset provides you with excellent project management and leadership skills
  • Experience in industrializing processes, using Agile Methodologies is certainly a bonus
  • Strong customer focus
  • Solid problem-solving skills, analytical skills and business acumen
  • Due to your sociable attitude, you’re able to engage with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Autonomous, convincing, flexible, team-oriented, committed to results, able to work in rapidly changing environment, unclear boundaries and tight deadlines
