Job description


Luminus publishes every year a very detailed Sustainability report, which was rewarded in 2021 by the jury for the Best Belgian Sustainability report (3 awards for the 2019 report). Luminus wishes to continue to publish such a comprehensive report, given the increased need for transparency regarding environmental topics.

To be prepared to face questions on water usage and raise awareness about water use, Luminus would also like to produce a detailed visual documentation regarding water usage at Luminus, including potential savings regarding thermal (gas-fueled) assets.

Goals of the assignment

  • Contribute to writing some of the highlights/comments on KPIs regarding the 2022 Sustainability report of Luminus (f.i. regarding the Ringvaart plant overhaul)
  • Produce pedagogical material to describe the water usage systems in Luminus thermal plants (Seraing, Angleur, Ham, Ringvaart) in a way that is understandable by non-technical people (i.e. employees, students, media, etc.), in order to better explain usage and potential savings
  • Assess water usage reduction opportunities in thermal plants and design a roadmap to implement reduction measures
  • Assist Facilities in monitoring and reducing water use in administrative buildings
  • Contribute to the Climate change adaptation plan and Climate change communication plan

This assignment will require working closely with the thermal assets maintenance teams and the CSR department, both in Wallonia and in Flanders.


Required initial training

Bachelor Degree in Environment management, Sustainability management or Industrial Engineering (mechanics, chemistry, etc.)

Required technical skills

Knowledge of thermal power plants technology, especially chemistry

Graphic skills (including technical drawings)

Required soft skills

At least bilingual (French/Dutch or Dutch/English or French/English)

Pedagogy & empathy, Team spirit & Entrepreneurship

Assignment’s length

Up to 6 months, starting as of October 3rd, 2022

NB: Assignment legal frame can be an internship or an immersion contract (first experience).
