Luminus is one of the key players in the Belgian energy sector working towards decarbonation and a CO2 free belgian society. Within this scope, we are looking for super engaged, enthousiastic, open minded and experienced profiles willing to challenge the conventional and develop new businesses in Belgium.

He or she will be working within the Strategy, Innovation and Business development department in charge of both defining Luminus long-term strategy, spuring innovation through internal/external startups and spinn-offs and developing new businesses together with partners in the most exciting areas such as; hydrogen, smart building, public private partnerships for decarbonation of B2C and B2B building stocks, renewables, batteries etc.

The role represents and exciting opportunity to work on one of todays mos relevant societal problems, with great independence and with the perspective of becoming the lead and main contact person for the projects/businesses once these become viable. 


Your futur duties & Responsabilities

Strategic analysis

  • Identify and investigate new business opportunities,
  • Capture and gather information as to understand total market potential, market evolution margins and positioning within the value chain
  • Monitor regulatory evolutions, call for projects subsidies, political landscape to identify new growth sectors
  • Propose a commercial / development strategy for a given identified sector or market

Business development

  • Identify potential clients and or relevant stakeholders
  • Prepare appropiate materials to project info memorandum / pitch / business proposal to promote the new project / business
  • Discuss and propose different project financing options consortia / SPV proposals to setup the project
  • Manage new business projects end-to-end from initial strategy, to investment file, to creation of SPV, product, first sales, to implementation and delivery
  • Engage in discussions with potential clients and or relevant stakeholders in order to establish partnerships/consortium arrangements
  • Follow-up a portfolio of projects at various stages of maturity

Prepare files for investment

  • Propose a sound business plan, understand key drivers, impacts on costs, revenues and elements for success of the business
  • Defend the projects business plan and budget internally at different high-level commitees such as the Excecutive Committee and the Investment Committee
  • Discuss with legal, finance, project financing, to clarify all aspects of the product / business / spv

Stakeholder mangement

  • Participating in sectorial meetings, political gatherings, etc. to advocate the importance/relevance of the business or projects
  • Elaborate appropiate pitching material, teasers, analysis or notes to convince stake-holders, politicians etc
  • Align internal stakeholde and manage their expectations, concerns, worries…(CFOs, IT, etc)


  • Follow-up a portfolio of projects at various stages of maturity
  • Coordinate and manage the execution delivery of the first products, sales, etc
  • Manage different teams across departments (legal, finance, product development, B2B KAMS, affiliates towards a common new business goal)
  • Manage company-wide transformation plans to re-orient teams/affiliates towards new business goals, define KPIs, objectives, etc to make the new business feasible
  • In charge of coordinating and submiting bids responding to the cost and technical criteria’s
  • Design the technical offers (including the identification and selection of the suitable experts) and anticipate budgets

Indicatively, business development-related work will account for 60-70% of the working time, and project implementation work 20-30%


  • A commercial/industrial/civil Engineer or equivalent Master studies
  • Minimum of three to five years of relevant work experience in a similar role with proven track record of successful proposals
  • Know-how of the energy sector is a plus
  • At least perfectly fluent in 2 languages either French/English or Dutch/English. Ideally fluent in all three languages FR/NL/EN
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with clients

  • Knowledge of business development, project financing, marketing
  • Excellent listening, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to conduct independent research and elaborate a sound business strategy
  • Ability to prepare presentations and investor pitchs
